Four Corners: 24 Years of Rally Experience
The Four Corners Motorcycle Rally™ is headquartered at the Sky Ute Fairgrounds in Ignacio, CO, where the town, and members of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe have invited bikers to come over the Labor Day weekend for 24 years! The rally extends from downtown Ignacio to the City of Durango and beyond, encompassing the entire Four Corners area.
Bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts return to the Four Corners annually to visit with friends, attend all the great events from concerts to bull riding, to riding the most magnificent mountain and desert terrain that a biker can ever dream about.
Rally Demographics and Attendance
The typical Four Corners Motorcycle Rally™ attendee is 60% male, age 35-55, and middle-upper income. These are the folks who make major investments and buying decisions. The attendees mostly come from the Four Corners states with Denver, Colorado and Albuquerque, New Mexico sending the most, but also a significant contingent from Texas and Phoenix. Many have come every one of the past 24 years. Anticipated attendance for 2016 is some 38,000.
While the rally extends throughout the entire area including Durango and Cortez, CO as well as Farmington, NM, the central venue is at the Sky Ute Fairgrounds in Ignacio, CO, only a mile from the Sky Ute Resort & Casino and a few minutes from moderate to upscale lodging for those not wishing to camp. The fairgrounds are where most of the main events, camping and concerts occur. Events at the fairgrounds include field events, biker bull riding and live concerts. While many attendees spend time riding the beautiful mountain highways and visiting tourist attractions in this wonderful area, EVERYONE makes sure they come to Ignacio to see and be seen.
Ignacio is about 6.5 hours from Denver, 3.5 from Albuquerque and 7 from Phoenix. The average daytime temperature in Ignacio during the rally is in the low to mid 80’s.
The first Four Corners rally was held at the same Sky Ute Fairgrounds in 1993 where it was known as the Four Corners Iron Horse Motorcycle Rally. After the dissolution of the FCIHMR, the rally went through some ups and down until the Ignacio Chamber of Commerce took charge in 2007 as a street rally and named it, Ignacio Bike Week: The Four Corners Motorcycle Rally. In 2012, the chamber formed a subsidiary, Ignacio Chamber Events, LLC, to run the the rally as it moved back into the Sky Ute fairgrounds. In 2013, a marketing group, The Four Corners Biker Rally Association dissolved itself and began participating as a support group to the rally, now known as just the Four Corners Motorcycle Rally™. The rally was purchased in 2015 by Johnny T. Valdez, a local businessman, who now owns and operates the Four Corners Motorcycle Rally under FCMR, LLC.
